About JEdidiah
Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Jedidiah (Jed) Rellihan is a 2021 graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance and a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting. He studied voice under baritone Timothy LeFebvre and conducting under Dr. Gregory Ristow. During his time at Oberlin, Jedidiah has appeared numerous times on Oberlin’s stages, both in recital and operatic repertoire. His notable performances with Oberlin Opera Theatre include the charming Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, the haunting Peter Quint in Britten’s Turn of the Screw, and the Tenor Trio Member in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti. Jed recently performed in his senior degree recital, featuring works by Liszt, Vaughan Williams, Mahler, and Britten. Other opera credits include Flute in Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and Brighella in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, both at the Miami Music Festival.
Mr. Rellihan has participated in several vocal programs across the country and internationally, including the Chautauqua Institute for Voice directed by Marlena Malas, Miami Music Festival, CSNY: Classical Singing in New York in June directed by Jane Olian and Donna Gill, as well as Oberlin in Italy and the Tanglewood Institute for Voice directed by Penelope Bitzas. He has also performed in masterclasses with Marilyn Horne, Margo Garett, Marlena Malas, Kathryn LaBouff, Brian Zeger, and Miah Im.
Jed has been a tenor member and featured soloist with both the Cleveland Chamber Choir directed by Scott MacPherson and Kantorei of Kansas City directed by Chris Munce, and has sung with other professional choral groups such as Spire Chamber Ensemble and Missouri Choral Artists. He is currently the tenor section leader at King’s Chapel in Boston, and was the choral director himself at Oberlin First United Methodist Church from 2017-2021 while in school.
Although primarily being taught by Dr. Ristow, Jed also studied conducting with esteemed conductors such as Christopher Larkin, Eugene Rogers, Ben Spalding, Raphael Jiménez, and Tim Weiss. After performing and working extensively with Oberlin’s highly prestigious music ensembles and teachers, Jedidiah graduated and stayed at Oberlin as a visiting professor and led the Oberlin Singers, Oberlin’s newest chamber choir.
Jedidiah’s conducting credits include Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, as well as a concert of sacred choral music with organ featuring works by Bach, Faure, Britten, and Gardner. He was the chorusmaster of Oberlin Opera Theatre’s production of Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and has been a featured conductor on several concerts with the Oberlin College Choir - Oberlin Conservatory’s premiere vocal ensemble. Jedidiah was thrilled and honored to conduct Heinrich Schütz’s Musikalische Exequien, Op. 7, in its entirety with the Oberlin Chamber Singers - Oberlin Conservatory’s highest level chamber vocal group.
Jed currently resides in Boston’s historic North End, and is excited for the musical possibilities of this musically rich city.
